Ludlow Food Festival
Take an historic town, combine with a foodie culture then mix with local chefs and producers and what do you get? One result is the Food Festival taking place in and around the medieval castle (map) in Ludlow, England. September 7 through 9, 2012.
The castle is divided into three areas for the fest: the Outer Bailey, the Inner Bailey and the Castle Gardens area. Within each of these areas you will find a huge array of events happening, and there will always be local food and drink producers offering tastings and information.
Taste workshops are planned by members of the Ludlow Slow Food group.
New this year, the Ludlow Assembly Rooms have been added to the festival with a foodie themed book festival, events for the kids, photography exhibition and wine tasting from Tanners. A Malaysian cookery school is planned for the Inner Bailey.
Road Trips Foodies planning a trip across the pond should note that the festival isnt limited to Ludlow Castle. There are sausage, bread and ale trails taking place through town over the weekend plus pudding tastings in the Methodist church, another 43 foodie stalls on the Sunday marketplace, buskers and entertainment around every corner.
Ludlow Castle is used by permission of The Earl of Powis and the Trustees of Powis Estate.
