New Year's at Trader Vic's

On the road for New Year’s? You can still find a great place to toast the arrival of 2010!

Arizona (Phoenix)
At Trader Vic’s in Hotel Valley Ho, 6850 East Main Street, Scottsdale, Arizona, there’s a special menu created just for New Year’s Eve (and, it includes the option of a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label for just $65). The three-course dinner features specialties like Volcano Shrimp, Tempura Lobster Roll and Bahian Torte. Dinner is served from 5-10 p.m., and there’ll be entertainment from 9 p.m.-1 a.m., and a complimentary champagne toast for all guests enjoying the countdown at midnight. Georgia (Atlanta)
Lobster beignets are one of the first-course offerings on the special New Year’s Eve dinner at Relish, 590 Mimosa Boulevard, Roswell, Georgia. Also among the choices are speckled sea trout, duck breast, diver scallops pineapple cream and angel food cake. Yum! Call 770:650-7877 for reservations.

Illinois (Chicago)
A complementary glass of champagne comes with the five-course tasting menu at Brown Trout, 4111 North Lincoln Boulevard, Chicago, Illinois. Among the items are a warm duck confit roulade, Lake Erie perch chowder with bacon aioli crostini, parsnip and apple soup, porcini and mushroom risotto with truffle oil, and a choice of pan-seared cucumber halibut or grilled Cedar Ranch rib eye. For dessert there’s a choice of butterscotch creme brulée with sweet-potato brittle or chocolate torte with strawberry-rhubarb buttercream. A vegetarian menu is available on request. Massachusetts (Boston)
Roulade of Scottish Salmon with Jasmine Rice and Lemongrass is one of the third-course offerings on the New Year’s Eve menu at Hamersley’s Bistro, 533 Tremont Street, Boston, Massachusetts — it finishes with a champagne toast. Call 617-423-2700 for reservations.

Nevada (Las Vegas)
Chef Bradley Ogden will be in Las Vegas to welcome 2010 with guests in his name-sake restaurant in Caesar’s Palace. For the special evening, a 4-course prix fixe tasting menu. The amuse-bouche: Kumamoto Oyster with Russian Osetra and Cauliflower Confetti. The first course selections: Gilroy Garlic Soup; Heirloom Beet Salad or Glazed Squab Breast. For the second course: Marinated Alaskan King Crab and more. For the main course: Braised Kobe Short Rib; South Dakota Bison Tenderloin or Grilled Veal Chop. Among the desserts: Maple Panna Cotta. Washington (Seattle)
The Pink Door, 1919 Post Alley (Pike Place Market), Seattle, Washington, has three seatings with entertainment by the Moonspinners for New Year’s Eve, but only the third seating actually includes dinner (the others feature aerial artist Rachel Strickland). For reservations, call 206:443-3241.
