Indio International Tamale Festival
The Indio International Tamale Festival in California is said to be the world’s largest tamale festival.
Road Trips Foodies can check for themselves December 1 and 2, 2018, by heading for the Civic Center Mall in Indio, California (check the online map for exact festival location details).
Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. the first day, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. the second. (It’s scheduled for the first “full” weekend in December every year.) Admission is free.
Obviously many vendors will be hawking tamales, but there also are six stages of entertainment, a carnival, kids’ zone, and a car show.
Road Trips Foodies won’t want to miss the Best Tamale Contest and its sister competition, the Best Tamale Flavored with Tabasco.
