Festa do Cocida
The town of Lalín in Pontevedra, Spain, has been celebrating Festa do Cocido for more than 40 years (it started in 1969).
“Stew season” lasts several months (with all sorts of events), but Road Trips Foodies will converge on Lalín February 8, 2015, for the “popular meal” where people eat typical stew (pictured) — featuring chickpeas.
Oh, yeah: there’s also a pregón (opening speech), parades with brass bands and floats, band performances and street entertainment. But the biggest lure is the stew itself.
