Tropical Forest India Mango Festival
Headed to Pittsburgh this weekend, Road Trips Foodie? Consider a stop at the Tropical Forest India Mango Festival, set for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday (July 12, 2014), at the Phipps Conservatory, 700 Frank Curto Drive, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Yes, tastings of the fruit are part of the fun at this celebration of the mango and its important role in Indian culture. It’s one of the activities scheduled for the new Tropical Forest India exhibit, which includes Ayurvedic healing gardens, cascading waterfalls, lush greenery, a field research station, and a temple façade.
Bring the whole family for tastings prepared by the chefs at Café Phipps, children’s Discovery tables with fun, hands-on activities, and a chance to see and learn about Phipps’ own mango tree.
This special event coincides with the International Mango Festival held annually in Delhi, India, which celebrates over 500 varieties of mangoes.
All activities are free with Phipps admission.
