Chile & Frijoles Festival
Home-grown chiles are spotlighted during the 19th annual Chile & Frijoles Festival, set for September 20 through 22, 2013, along Union Avenue between East B Street and West 1st Street in downtown Pueblo, Colorado (map).
The town celebrates the harvest of the mira sol chile (pictured — Pueblo’s most popular variety of native peppers, rated at 2,500-5,000 Scovilles) at the event designed to promote the area’s agriculture (especially chiles and pinto beans). Farmers will fire-roast their chiles and provide samples.
Admission is $2 per person, with children under 12 admitted free.
The festival is sponsored by the Greater Pueblo Chamber of Commerce.
