Smokin’ on the Pecos This Weekend

Gonna be in New Mexico this weekend, Road Trips Foodies? The Smokin’ On the Pecos Mew Mexico State BBQ Championship is set for Friday and Saturday (June 28 and 29, 2013) at the Eddy County Fairgrounds, 3402 South 13th Street, Artesia, New Mexico (map).
Smokin’ On the Pecos is a Kansas City Barbecue Society and Rocky Mountain Barbecue Association “dually sanctioned” event, where more than 70 teams representing nine different states will compete. Yep: these are real, live BBQ Pitmasters.
Of course, there’s more than just BBQ. Look for the beer garden, live music and craft exhibitors. Tickets are $15 at the gate.
