Pennsylvania Dutch Delicacies
Foodies know the Kutztown Folk Festival serves the best and most authentic Pennsylvania Dutch delicacies around. Favorites include funnel cakes, root beer, sauerkraut, smoked meats and ox roasted on a spit. Goodies such as Shoo-Fly pie and kettle corn make great souvenirs — and you’ve still got time to get there.
The 64th annual Kutztown Folk Festival at the Kutztown Fairgrounds, 450 Wentz Street, Kutztown, Pennsylvania (map) opens tomorrow (June 29, 2013) and runs through July 7, 2013. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
The nine-day event includes demonstrations of traditional Pennsylvania Dutch crafts, the handiwork of 200 juried American craftsmen, folk and farm life displays, historic reenactments, antiques, music, dancing and of course, the food.
