Ludlow Food Festival
If you’re planning a jaunt across the pond in September, Road Trips Foodies, consider including a stop at the Ludlow Marches Food and Drink Festival. It will take place on September 13, 14 and 15, 2013, in Ludlow, Shropshire, England, “the small town with the large reputation for good food and drink”.
The Festival, held inside Ludlow Castle (map) will feature more than 160 small independent food and drink producers from the Marches, the England-Wales border country.
Highlights include a day of top chefs (September 13), a day of trails (September 14) and an extra 40+ stalls on the marketplace just outside the castle (September 15)
As well as the food producers, throughout Ludlow’s historic town center are a whole host of food-related events, such as the famous Ludlow Sausage trail, Ale trail and the Festival Loaf trail, not forgetting all the old favorites both inside and outside the Castle, including cooking demonstrations, talks, dessert tastings, markets and more.
This was Britain’s first successful food and drink festival when it started back in 1995. It’s grown considerably since then, with large numbers of visitors from throughout the United Kingdom, as well as from overseas — but they’ve stayed firmly with their original idea of highlighting the great food and drink that is available in the Marches.
