Sassafras Tea Festival

While mock Civil War skirmishes take place on the Jennings County courthouse lawn (map), sightseers will sip sassafras tea and browse the homemade pies and sweet breads for sale in this southern Indiana town April 27 and 28, 2013.
Civil War Living History plays out during this annual festival both downtown and at nearby Muscatatuck County Park, where there will be mock battles at 1 p.m. both days (admission to the park is $5 per vehicle).
There will be hot meals served at the Jennings County Historical Museum, 134 East Brown Street, Vernon, Indiana, both days as well as hundreds of homemade pies and sweet breads. The funds from the food sales help maintain the museum.
