North Carolina Pickle Festival
Come on down and sample some pickles at the North Carolina Pickle Festival, set for April 27, 2013, in downtown Mount Olive, North Carolina (map).
Don’t miss the winning entries for the Tickled Pickle Poetry Contest and the Pickle Art Contest amidst all the fun of the fest. Among the sponsors is (of course) the Mt. Olive Pickle Company.
But the Pickle Festival is about more than pickles! It’s also the venue for the sixth annual “Big A Burger Challenge Championship”. At noon April 27, six contestants will find out who can eat 50 ounces of burger with at least four trimmings plus fries and a 240ounce drink in the shortest amount of time.
The North Carolina Pickle Festival was first held on September 12, 1987, and the entire festival was held in a three-block section of Center Street in downtown Mount Olive. This year, the event has grown to encompass nearly all of the town’s downtown business area.
