International Chocolate Festival
What could be tastier, Road Trips Foodies, than a weekend filled with chocolate?
If your route takes you through southern Florida late this month, consider a stop January 24 through 26, 2014, at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, 10901 Old Cutler Road Coral Gables, Florida, for the eighth annual International Chocolate Festival. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.
There are cooking demonstrations, lectures, chocolate-themed poetry and (inexplicably) a beer garden.
From Bean to Beverage interactive demonstrations teach about chocolate from early Colonial times to the present. Choco-Walk Stops include the rainforest (where and how cacao grows), the Tropical Fruit Pavilion at the Edible Garden (how do we get chocolate?) and the Garden House Lawn (cacao trees for sale).
