Vienna’s Answer to the Oktoberfest
The Wiener Wiesn festival will play out on the Kaiserwiese meadow in the Prater, Vienna, Austria, from September 27, 2012, until October 7, 2012.
For its second year, Wiener Wiesn will have three giant marquees on the Kaiserwiese meadow, directly in front of the Giant Ferris Wheel in the Prater park (map). In addition to the traditional beer tents, which can accommodate up to 2,500 guests, this year’s event will feature an authentic Alpine hut made of Swiss Pine.
The event will have a strong Austrian flavor, with Wiener Schnitzel, sausage, roast pork and crispy pork knuckle on the menu. The beer comes from Austria, and the wine is from Viennese producers.
Each day will bring live musical entertainment in the different marquees: the 11-day program includes a total of 99 concerts.
