Taste of West Cork Food Festival
A few of the events took place in August, but most of the Taste of West Cork Food Festival is in September.
For example, you can “forage and find” your own dinner either September 9 or 10, 2012, at the Lissard Estate (map). Participants actually forage for foods grown in the woods and then cook ’em. (Lissard is a 200 acre estate emcompassing Liss Ard Country House, Garden mews, Lake lodge, a Victorian dower house and the 50 acre lake.)
Other highlights include a Potato Speciality Evening September 10 and a meal featuring seaweed and seafood September 12. All events are listed online.
The annual Celtic Chef Cookoff on September 12 has one Chef representing each of the Celtic Territories: Scotland ( Tony Singh), Wales (Shuan Hill) Ireland (Paul Flynn) Isle of Man (Butch Buttery), Cornwall (Jack Stein) and Brittany (Stephane Delourme).
