Great British Cheese Festival
The Great British Cheese Festival takes place September 22 and 23, 2012, at Cardiff Castle, Wales (map).
A key feature of this festival across the pond, Road Trips Foodies, is the chance to find out more about cheese. There are three separate venues dedicated to educating and inspiring visitors, who can taste the diversity of British cheese; explore different aspects, styles or regions of cheese; pair cheese with wines, beers, ciders and perry; learn what it takes to make an award-winning cheese, and discover the key to unlocking the mystery behind wine.
At “Cheese Headquarters”, master classes are held in the “House of Commons” (for families and cheese lovers) and the “House of Lords” (for cheese, wine and food fanatics).
In the Hall of Champions, there’s a chance to meet the judges, talk to the cheese-makers and taste some of the medal and award-winning cheeses fresh from the British Cheese Awards.
Wine workshops in the Undercroft are designed to demystify wine and educate the palate through tastings of a range of wines from both the old world and the new world.
