York Food and Drink Festival
For 10 days in September the historic center of York, England, becomes the celebration hub for all that’s great about Yorkshire food and drink.
The theme for this year’s foodie fest, set for September 21 through 30, 2012, is ‘Feeding the City in the Past, the Present and the Future.’
Special events include a tour around the Georgian kitchen of the Mansion House — a look back at food through the ages with Andrew ‘Bone’ Jones. Those with a sweet tooth can look back at how chocolate made its way to York and visitors will be able to discover how York’s heritage has influenced how we live, eat and drink today.
The evening events will see a packed program, including the Black Tie ‘Chateau Neuf Du Pape Dinner’ in the Mansion House with Karen Hardwick of the Wine Academy, or a tutored beer tasting with Jeff Evans of Inside Beer. ‘Dine at my Table’ will also be making a return, giving festival goers the opportunity to enjoy real Yorkshire cooking right in the heart of York homes.
The festival will also be working with Food and Environment Agency (FERA) to look at how safe today’s food really is.
