Brewers Memorial Ale Fest
Attention dog-and-brew lovers! This one’s for you.
Yes, pooches are welcome at the 6th Annual Brewers Memorial Ale Fest set for May 18 through 20, 2012. (People have to be 21 or older; dogs don’t.)
It’s held inside the Rogue Ales Brewery, 2320 Southeast OSU Drive, Newport, Oregon (map). There’ll be more than 50 microbrews, plus live music, doggy musical chairs, dog wash, dog dancing and celebrity dog look-alikes.
The $10 admission fee includes four taster tickets.
Hours are 4 to 10 p.m. May 18, noon to 10 p.m. May 19 and noon to 4 p.m. May 20.
Why dogs? The festival was created in memory of Brewer, who passed away on May 20, 2006. Brewer, the four-footed canine companion of Rogue brewmaster John Maier, grew up in the brewery and eventually rose to the rank of CEO of Rogue Ales.
The fest benefits Oregon Coast charities, including Central Oregon Coast Humane Society, Friends of the Lincoln County Animal Shelter, Lincoln County Animal Shelter, Newport Police Department K9-Unit and White Wolf Sanctuary.
