Only in England would there be a Watercress Festival!
Road Trips Foodies are invited to celebrate “one of Britain’s greatest culinary delights” on May 20, 2012, in New Alresford, Hampshire (map).
Yes, watercress is the signature crop for the area.
The entire center of New Alresford becomes a huge street festival, with a large food market showcasing local producers. Award-winning and well known local chefs share their passion for watercress during cookery demonstrations throughout the day.
Three competitions will be held: Watercress Soup, watercress recipe and Watercress Eating.
