World Championship Cheese Contest
Where else would the World Championship Cheese Contest be held than Wisconsin?
Yes: next week in the Monona Terrace Convention Center, 1 John Nolen Drive, Madison, Wisconsin (map), Road Trips Foodies can watch an international panel of judges evaluate 2,500 entries in 82 cheese and butter classes.
The preliminary rounds (open to the public) are from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 5, 2012; 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 6, 2012, and 8:30 a.m. to noon March 7, 2012.
Judges work in teams of two, tasting products from around the world to determine gold medalists in each variety. And “watchers” can sample selected cheeses from the contest.
An “Evening at the World Championship Cheese Contest”, presented by Wisconsin Cheese Originals, takes place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. March 7, 2012, also in the Monona Terrace. This is when the judges choose the 2012 World Champion Cheese. If you wanna be there, plan ahead, as tickets ($25) are sold only in advance.
