Bordeaux in Québec
Québec City (capital of Canada’s Québec province) will celebrate Bordeaux wines from September 6 to 9, 2012. (For the geographically challenged among us, Bordeaux is both a region and a city; Québec is both a city and a province.)
The fest commemorates the 50th anniversary of the “twinning” of Bordeaux and Québec City by pairing Bordeaux wines from 50 producers with culinary specialties of Québec City.
The event will be hosted at and around Espace 400e, 100 Quai Saint-André, Québec (map), with lots of wine and food tastings planned.
But, there’s a twist. It’s said that wine is to cycling as beer is to hockey. Fortuitously, the Bordeaux Wine Festival and the Grand Prix Cycliste de Québec have overlapping dates this year. It just makes good sense for these two events to work closely together, noted Serge Arsenault, president of the Grands Prix Cyclistes Québec-Montréal.
“Over the coming months, the organizers of the wine festival and the cycling competition will jointly develop a series of exciting and complementary activities to be held during the 2012 Grand Prix,” he said.
Master classes and premium events will round out the wine fest program.
