A Pair of New Restaurants Near Detroit
Two new restaurants have just opened in Birmingham, Michigan: Bellapiatti and Tallulah Wine Bar & Bistro.
Bellapiatti, 167 Townsend Street, Birmingham, Michigan (map), draws inspiration for its “beautiful plates” from Northern Italian cuisine.
Central to the restaurant is a stationed antipasti bar, where the chef prepares made-to-order boards, including a range of Italian-style cured meats. A menu of small plates, perfect for sharing, are also plated at the bar.
Don’t forget dessert. Among the options, orange polenta cake with marsala sabayon and cinnamon crisp; a warm rosemary apple tart with burnt caramel gelato, and a honey and pine nut tart with chestnut whip.
Tallulah Wine Bar & Bistro, 155 South Bates Street, Birmingham, Michigan (map), takes its inspiration from Hollywood starlet Tallulah Bankhead.
The menu drawn from both French and California bistro influences, includes a range of oysters, octopus, stone crab and mussels. Desserts here can be a cannelle with butterscotch pot de crème, seasonal fruit pies or poached pear brown butter cake.
Insider tip: next door is Tallulah Too, a wine tasting room with all of the bistro’s wines, as well as an ever-changing selection of its special finds.
Both Bellapiatti and Tallulah Wine Bar & Bistro are part of the Tallulah Dining Group.
