Top National Dishes in the UK
The people of the United Kingdom have turned their backs on European gourmet classics and American fast food.
A recent food poll by travel search site Skyscanner revealed that Asian foods took three of the top five positions, while half of the national dishes in the top 10 were Asian.
Italian pasta and Spanish paella held on to the popular vote to gain places in the top five (#1 and #3, respectively), national dishes from Thailand, mainland China, Japan, India and Hong Kong dominated the rest of the top 10.
Thailand’s Pad Thai came in at number two in the poll, taking an impressive 10% of the vote.
Chinese favorite Peking Duck was in fourth place.
Japan’s signature dish, sushi, was in fifth place. Indian biryani and Greek Moussaka shared sixth place.
Dim Sum from Hong Kong was in eighth position while caviar from Russia took ninth. Tenth was the French national dish of crêpes.
