Slow Food Cycle Sunday
Gonna be wandering around British Columbia, Canada, toward the end of August, Road Trips Foodies?
If you’ve got a two-wheeler with you, consider turning up in Pemberton on August 21, 2011, for Slow Food Cycle Sunday. Sea to Sky‘s signature agritourism event, the seventh annual Cycle Sunday is a pedal-powered trip through the natural buffet that is Pemberton Meadows farmland. On the tour, you can meet local growers and sample produce fresh from the field.
No pre-registration necessary, and the event is free (although donations are gratefully accepted). Follow the signs leading into the Village of Pemberton for parking and registration — which opens at 8 a.m. The full ride is about 50 kilometers on a flat, mostly paved, back road. Helmets are mandatory as per provincial legislation.
Do pack along food and drink as there are no stores en-route. There will be food and drink for sale, but supplies are not guaranteed to last.
Bonus: there’s an AugustFest Beer Garden in Pioneer Park from 1 to7 p.m. that day.
