Hanover Tomato Festival
Some folks like them red, some like them green. Some folks like them stewed, some like them fried. Regardless of how you like them, this is your chance to taste one of the best tasting tomatoes you could ever sink your teeth into.
Where? The annual Hanover Tomato Festival in Pole Green Park, 8996 Pole Green Park Lane, Mechanicsville, Virginia. It’s set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 9, 2011,
Real Hanover tomatoes (from Dodd’s Acres Farms in Hanover County) will be available while supplies last (42,000 attended last year’s festival, so buy yours early).
There are all sorts of contests where the main ingredient is Hanover tomatoes, including Best Tasting Tomato, Best Tasting Salsa and Ugliest Tomato. Road Trips Foodies will also find arts and crafts vendors, entertainment and more food at the rain-or-shine admission-free event.
