Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day

Where better to celebrate that quintessential Irish holiday than in an Irish pub? Fortunately, Road Trips Foodies, there are Irish pubs all across the United States.
Here are just a few to tempt you off the highway for a pint (and, today, it’s probably tinted green!):
- McSharry’s, in Fairhope, Alabama, is owned by a man from Sligo, Ireland.
- Kelt’s Pub in Altus, Arkansas, says it’s “absolutely the most charming and authentic little pub” in the state.
- Sonny McLean’s Irish Pub in Santa Monica, California, is named for the founder’s grandfather, who left Ireland in the 1850s to escape the famine.
- Celtic House Pub in Parker, Colorado, features a back bar that’s more than a century old.
- Peggy Kinnane’s in Arlington Heights, Illinois, is named for the owner’s mother and decorated with memorabilia from County Clare.
- J. P. McBride’s in Haverhill, Massachusetts, will have Irish music starting at 3 p.m. today.
- Caffrey’s Tavern in Forked River, New Jersey, is the only Irish pub in this Road Trip Foodie’s memory that serves sushi.
- McSwiggan’s Irish Pub in Dallas, Texas, bills itself as Ireland by way of Boston.
- Duffy’s Irish Pub in Washington, D.C., also serves green Jello shooters on St. Patrick’s Day. Who knew?
