Fall Flavours Festival on PEI
The Fall Flavours Festival on Prince Edward Island in Canada takes place September 3-30, 2010. Chef Michael Smith is the host for all 28 days. A Canadian, he is a winner of the James Beard Award for Cooking Show Excellence and host of Chef Abroad. His latest series of cookbooks is The Best of Chef At Home: Essential Recipes for Today’s Kitchen.
PEI is divided into five distinct regions, each of which has its own character and culture. The North Cape Coastal Drive includes such unusual taste treats as seaweed pie and potato fudge. Green Gables and Shore spotlights food artisans.
Red Sands Shores, central region of Prince Edward Island, has everything from lobster to specialty mustards. Charlottetown includes many locally owned restaurants. On the Points East Coastal Drive, the focus is on casual dining.
In every region, during the Fall Flavours Festival there’ll be multitudes of Hands-on Experiences, Culinary Events, Tasting Events, Signature Events (such as an Organic Food Festival), Cultural Events and Farm to Gate Events. And, if that’s not enough for you, restaurants all across PEI will be faturing special Fall Flavours menu items!
