Best Dishes of Sardinia
“The cuisine of Sardinia is a seriously under-rated treasure of the Mediterranean, much like the land itself,” writes Kendall Hill of The Australian.
She has selected some of Sardinia’s “best dishes” and picked out some restaurants that serve ’em:
Spaghetti with artichokes, bottarga and salted ricotta at Dr Ampex: Via San Giacomo 31, Cagliari, Sardinia; +39 070 658 199. It doesn’t have a website, but there’s more information about it here.
Cheese paste at Pani e Casu: Via Mogoru, Elmas; +39 070 216 691. Again, no website, but check it out here.
Pane frattau at Su Gologone: Via Nuoro, Oliena; +39 0784 287 552; website. (According to Hill, “it’s a layer of flat bread soaked in lamb stock, dressed lightly with a meat ragu and topped with a soft fried egg.”)
Suckling pig (porceddu) at Casteddu: Via Nuoro 12, Padru; +39 078 945 910; website.
Almost everything at Hotel Gallura: Corso Umberto 145, Olbia; +39 078 924 648. No website, but more here. (Hill notes it has a Michelin star for its exceptional Sardinian cuisine prepared by Chef Rita Denza.)
