Oxnard and Salsa!
Who knew, but summer is synonymous with salsa in downtown Oxnard, California — at least when the 17th Annual Oxnard Salsa Festival takes center stage July 24-25, 2010, at Plaza Park, Fifth and “B” Streets. Road Trips Foodies who like the food! the music! the dance! of salsa should plan to roll in there sometime between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. either day (Oxnard is between Los Angeles and Santa Barbara.) With salsa tasting and spicy foods on the menu, y’all will have plenty of opportunities to tantalize your taste buds with everything from roasted corn to fresh-baked pastries. Inside the Salsa Tasting Tent, local restaurants, Mexican markets, and gourmet salsa vendors will be serving a variety of salsa flavors — fresh & fruity, hot & smoky, and sweet & spicy. Entry to the Salsa Tasting Tent is $5 — with chips included! (Beverages are available for purchase.) And, oh yeah, there’s salsa music, dance and (of course!) shopping. The Oxnard Salsa Festival was launched in 1994 by the Oxnard Downtowners. For more information on Oxnard, go online.
