Feast of Excited Insects
Singapore-style scorpions anyone? How about Taiwanese crickets, silkworm larvae or Thai-style white sea worms? March 5 is the Feast of Excited Insects, so it only seems appropriate that Road Trips Foodies would want to chow down on some of the best at Typhoon Restaurant, second floor, 3221 Donald Douglas Loop South, Santa Monica, California (yes, that’s the Santa Monica Airport). The traditional holiday, celebrated in China and Korea, marks the end of winter and the start of spring. OK, so the Typhoon is known best for its catfish, prepared either Szechwan Style or with Black Bean Sauce. But, when scorpions are on the menu, why settle for just a fish?
