FeatherFest!
Not sure they’ve got the right name for it (feathers aren’t exactly tasty fare), but the Atlanta Convention & Visitors Bureau has nonetheless hatched Featherfest, a week-long culinary competition among Atlanta restaurants to create the best appetizers, entrees and desserts based on poultry meat or eggs. During the competition, taking place January 22, 2010, through January 28, 2010, foodies are encouraged to peck at at a few of the entries and cast their votes online.
Appetizers range from foi gras to sweet chili and ginger glazed wings to quesadilla roja. Entrees include steak and egg sushi, crispy duck steak, Georgia pecan-crusted chicken, and of course, Georgia fried chicken. Egg custard pie, flan and crème brulée are among the eggcellent dessert offerings. Road Trips Foodies can check out the participating restaurants here.
FeatherFest is inspired by the International Poultry Expo/International Feed Expo, which attracts nearly 20,000 attendees from around the world to Georgia’s capital city January 27-29, 2010. For more on visiting Atlanta, go online.
