Santa Fe Wine & Chile Fiesta
If you’re heading to northern New Mexico, Road Trip Foodies, Santa Fe is the place to be this week. Wine seminars, cooking demonstrations, guest chef luncheons and tours all are planned during the 19th Annual Wine & Chile Fiesta in Santa Fe, New Mexico, September 23-27, 2009. Some of the events (such as Wednesday’s Artisanal Cheese and Wine Pairings session) are already sold out, but tickets remain for many: check the website to see what’s still available (there’s still room at Asian Cuisine & Champagne, for example, and at the Champagne Master Class). The events are scattered all around the Santa Fe area. Winery dinners will take place in Geronimo, Inn of the Anasazi and Bishop’s Lodge (among many others — there are 52 of them spread over three evenings). The chef demos include wine suggestions. Chef Martin Rios, for example, will demonstrate how to prepare Smoked Eggplant & Tomato Soup with Mexican Prawns and Dungeness Crab Crepe, and suggests it be served with Archery Summit Pinot Noir and Pine Ridge Chardonnay. Mark Miller will demonstrate three recipes from his new cookbook Tacos. The “best wines of the week from a 100 participating wineries are on sale from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Reserve Wine Tasting & Auction.
