Chili Cookoff in Iowa
What could be better than really good chili with a nice glass of wine on a crisp autumn day? Road Trip Foodies wandering through Iowa early next month should consider stopping at Tassel Ridge Winery, 1681 220th Street, Leighton, Iowa, between noon and 3 p.m. on October 11, 2009. Attendees will enjoy sampling chili cooked and/or paired with Tassel Ridge wine and then vote for their favorite chili and best chili presentation. (The winning recipes will be featured on the Tassel Ridge Winery website, and included in the winery e-newsletter.) Winners will be selected in three categories: People’s Choice — Chili deemed to be the best by votes cast by public; Judge’s Choice — Chili deemed to be the best by our culinary panel judges, and Best Presentation — Most creative name/presentation based on votes by judges and public. Although entrants pay a $20 fee, attendees don’t pay a thing to taste all that good chili!
