Maine Lobster Festival
What do you get when you take nine tents, the world’s greatest lobster cooker, a sea goddess, a big parade, top notch entertainment, a lobster crate race, fine art, talented crafts people and vendors, U.S. Navy ship tours, all-you-can-eat pancakes, U.S. Coast Guard Station tours, cooking contests, and more than 20,000 pounds of lobster? Nothing less than the Maine Lobster Festival! Held July 29-August 2 in Rockland, Maine, where you can sample (in addition to lobster), steamed and fried clams, fried Maine shrimp, shrimp cocktail or steamed mussels in wine and vegetable sauce — all within sight of Penobscot Bay! The big parade down Rockland’s Main Street takes place August 1, 2009; the whole schedule is here.
