International Green Week
The world’s biggest fair for food, agriculture and horticulture, Gruenewoche, will be held January 21 through 30, 2011, at the Berlin Messe exhibition ground in Berlin-Charlottenburg, Germany.
This is a one-of-a-kind international exhibition. Established in 1926, it showcases producers from all over the world who use the IGW to test-market food and luxury items and establish a brand image.
Here’s how IGW describes the culinary side of the event:
The menu at the International Green Week 2011 lists specialities from around the world, and will be served up to over 400,000 guests who are expected to attend. For the first time, the Green Week provides an opportunity to sample some delicacies from Afghanistan such as saffron from Herat and pomegranates from Kandahar. With items such as mocca with cardamom from Lebanon, lovers’ punch from the Caribbean island of Guadeloupe, peppery spices from Madagascar, Norwegian-style mussels and volcano ham from Austria, this gastronomic voyage of discovery around the globe promises more than 100,000 culinary delights.
There’s much, much more information online, including how to buy tickets.
