Spices of the Caribbean
“Spices of the Caribbean” has been designed to highlight the specific combinations of herbs, spices and flavorings characteristic of this corner of the world. Drawing on the foods of the region — made distinctive by climate, land and local culture — this festival, set for October 9, 10 and 11, 2010, will allow visitors to sample the essence of the place.
In this case, the place is the Jade Mountain Resort on the island of St. Lucia. The three-day spice fest will include walking and tasting tour of the resort’s Organic Garden at Emerald Estate, Chef Allen Susser’s cooking class “Spices of the Caribbean”, a visit to town markets in Soufrière, specially-prepared lunches and a five-course dinner using locally grown fare.
There’s more information on the resort’s website.
