Tamale Fest in Rockford, Illinois
The seventh annual Tamale Fest takes place from 1 to 8 p.m. Saturday (September 9, 2023), at 3923 East State Street, Rockford, Illinois.

Tamale Fest features Latin American food trucks vendors from all over the Midwest. Food and drink options include tacos, tamales, margaritas, and beer. General admission is $10.
Road Trips Foodies who have a high “heat” tolerance might want to participate in the jalapeño-eating contest.
Entertainment includes the Ballet Folklorico and Aztec dancers plus “Lucha Libre”, freestyle masked Mexican wrestling. There are also various vendors and artists.
For car enthusiasts, there is a low-rider car show and hopping contest.
This is an all-ages, family-friendly event, but you must be 21 with a valid ID to drink beer.
?Proceeds benefit M.A.S.A. — MEXICO AMERICANOS SALIENDO ADELANTE — a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization founded in 2018 that provides entrepreneurial education for aspiring and current business owners and organizations, youth mentoring for young at-risk Latinos in the tri-county area, and cultural education.
