Galveston Island Shrimp Festival
Road Trips Foodies should prepare to indulge in a seafood lover’s paradise at the Galveston Island Wild Texas Shrimp Festival, set for September 22 and 23, 2023.
This festival will be held at the Saengerfest Park in downtown Galveston, Texas. Savor the finest shrimp gumbo the Gulf Coast has to offer while participating in a seafood cook-off, gumbo tasting, L’il Shrimps Parade, and live music. Bring the whole family to enjoy a children’s area and a Strand merchant walkabout.
Visitors to the festival will be able to purchase a Gumbo Sampling Cup in advance for a limited time only. This cup will allow guests to sample gumbo from cook-off teams comprised of amateur and professional cookers. There’s more ticket information online.
Professional teams from some of Galveston Island’s restaurants will also be selling various dishes for public purchase.
The Shrimp Gumbo Cook-Off will be held in the Historic Strand District beginning at 10 a.m. September 23, 2023.
A portion of event proceeds will benefit the Justin Hughes Fund, University of Texas Medical Branch.
