Cimburijada in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Road Trips Foodies know that springtime and eggs have a long association, dating back to pagan times — the egg, of course, is a symbol of the birth of new life promised by the return of warm weather.
The community of Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina, celebrate the two with a festival called Cimburijada or “Festival of Scrambled Eggs”, in a park alopngside the Bosnia River “at the crack of dawn”, prepare scrambled eggs, and share breakfast with friends and visitors.
This year’s celebration is scheduled March 20, 2020.
This Bosnian tradition unites thousands of friends and families as they dance to live music and share a traditional breakfast of eggs prepared in multitudes of giant pans.
