ABQ NoshFest Coming Up!
Albuquerque’s only Jewish Food Festival — ABQ NoshFest — will take place from noon to 4 p.m. January 12, 2020, in the Sandia Resort & Casino, 30 Rainbow Road NE, Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Don’t speak Yiddish? A “nosh” is a snack or light meal. This celebration of Jewish food and culture is open to all. Admission is $8 at the door (buy food tix individually on site).
This year’s cooking contest features foodie favorite: kugel (pictured above, left). Kugel is a baked pudding or casserole, most commonly made from egg noodles or potato. Kugels may be savory or sweet. It is a traditional Ashkenazi Jewish dish (which means its from Central and East Europe), often served on Shabbat and Yom Tov. Register to participate online.
Celebrity judges will vote on 1st, 2nd, & 3rd place based on texture, taste, appearance and creativity. Entries are limited to a total of 20, one kugel per participant (the $18 fee includes NoshFest entry). Kugels must be turned into NoshFest staff by 11:30 a.m. January 12 at NoshFest. Judging is at 1 p.m.
ABQ NoshFest is a fundraiser for the Jewish Community Center of Greater Albuquerque. Proceeds benefit the JCC’s programs that assist homeless families and children, provide summer camp, swim lessons and early childhood education scholarships, support people with disabilities, help and serve others in need in our community.
