Hangout Oyster Cook-off
The 12th annual Hangout Oyster Cook-off is set for this weekend (November 1 and 2, 2019) in Gulf Shores, Alabama.
Featured are (of course) oysters, but also live music, and a lineup of craft spirits and beers from throughout the region.
The event is headlined by Michael Symon of Iron Chef, The Chew and BBQ Brawl, and Chris Lilly, a six-time barbecue world champion who also serves as a judge on Food Network’s BBQ Brawl. During the two-day event, more than 100,000 oysters will be prepared in the raw, Cajun and Rockefeller categories.
Though most of these oysters hail from Alabama, bivalves from all over the continent will be represented in the North American Raw Oyster Showcase. Tickets are available online.
