New Tastes for the 2019 Indiana State Fair
The Indiana State Fair takes place August 2 through 18, 2019, at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, 1202 East 38th Street, Indianapolis, Indiana.
In addition to the usual — livestock exhibitions, 4-H contests, horticulture displays, antique farm equipment, and such — there’s much to tempt a Road Trips Foodie: new taste treats.
Here are some of the offerings promised:
Bacon Poutine
Freshly cut Idaho potatoes fried in Maple Leaf Farms duck fat and sprinkled with crispy hickory smoked peppery bacon! Garnished with cheddar curd cheese nuggets and smothered in a very special Poutine secret recipe sauce.
Bourbon Chicken (right)
Kick it up Cajun style with a Bourbon Chicken Bowl! Grilled chicken smothered in our super secret, sweet and tangy Bourbon Sauce, fresh cut broccoli florets, all piled high on a bed of steamed cilantro rice.
Bison Hush Puppies
Cornmeal batter, jalapeño and Red Frazier Bison – deep fried and served with seasoned sour cream.
The Hawaiian Haminator
Ham and bacon masterpiece mixed with our own Grand Champion BBQ Bacon Sauce and our own famous Yum Yum Sauce. It comes on a sesame seed bun topped with provolone cheese and two pineapple slices.
Indiana Pork BBQ Split
The Indiana Pork BBQ Split is served just like a banana split! Served in a boat with three delicious scoops of pulled pork, macaroni and cheese and cole slaw. The BBQ Split will have a pickle on the side.
The Rollin’ Mac Daddy Egg Roll
The Gobble Gobble Mac Daddy, is cheesy mac and cheese, with pulled BBQ turkey on top. You can get that with a side of cheese or BBQ sauce.
Lamb Taco
Barbacoa lamb in a flour tortilla served with pico, lettuce, onion and cilantro, topped with cheese and sour cream with a side of salsa.
Or, for something on the sweet side, consider these options:
Deep Fried Chocolate Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich (above, left)
Creamy vanilla ice cream sandwiched between 2 big chocolate chip cookies, dipped in funnel cake batter and deep fried, garnished with powdered sugar and chocolate sauce.
Super Hero USA All the Way Pancake (left)
Fresh made Dutch pancake loaded with red strawberries, white-fresh whipped cream and blueberries.
Trifecta Hero Dreamsicle
This drinkable Dreamsicle is a shakeup, slushy, and vanilla shake mashup. Blended together with fresh squeezed lemons, limes, and orange juice, then mixed with homemade simple syrup and French vanilla cream with a splash of water.
Caramel Coffee Milkshake
Creamy vanilla ice cream, caramel AND coffee — a perfectly acceptable breakfast.
