Afternoon Tea in Bath, England

Submitted by on March 25, 2019 – 8:44 amNo Comment

Afternoon Tea, Royal Crescent Hotel, Bath, EnglandWandering through the wonders of Bath can be exhausting. The solution? Afternoon Tea at the Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa, 16 Royal Crescent, Bath, England.

Guests have the option of partaking of Afternoon Tea within the Dower House Restaurant, in the Montagu Bar & Champagne Lounge, in The Drawing Room, in The Library, or al fresco in one acre of gardens including The Spa Garden and the private Walled Garden (weather permitting.)

Combining savory with sweet, the Afternoon Tea menus offer a selection of tea sandwiches including Coronation corn-fed chicken and oak-smoked salmon, savory items such as a warm brie, Iberico ham, grape and truffle tart, and a range of pastries and cakes including freshly-baked buns and scones served with Devon clotted cream and strawberry preserves

The tea menu includes:

The Authentic Afternoon Tea is a classic sweet afternoon tea consisting of pastries, cakes, and finger sandwiches served with a choice of Ronnefeldt Tea or freshly-ground coffee.

The Royal Crescent Tea is designed as an alternative to the Authentic Afternoon Tea, and is a perfect choice for gentlemen with a savory tooth (although, the hotel hastens to add, it is entirely suitable for ladies as well). It consists of a classic collection of sandwiches, savories and sweets served with a choice of Ronnefeldt Tea or freshly-ground coffee.

The Vegetarian Afternoon Tea features finger sandwiches including free-range egg or smoked cheddar and savory items including goat’s curd and black pepper choux buns, along with pastries and scones — served with a choice of Ronnefeldt Tea or freshly-ground coffee. (And, a Vegan Afternoon Tea is available upon request.)

The Children’s Tea is designed to please the little ones (ages 3-11) with items such as roasted corn-fed chicken and Somerset ham sandwiches, chocolate chip and mint cupcakes, and miniature scones, accompanied by hot chocolate with whipped cream. Takeaway Tuck Shop Sweets are offered on departure.

Afternoon tea — this most decadent of British traditions — is complemented by a selection of Ronnefeldt teas from around the world, sourced exclusively for guests of The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa. Established in 1823 in the heart of Europe, Ronnefeldt is one of the leading premium tea brands worldwide. Some of its tea selections include White Yin Long, Classic English Breakfast, Earl Grey, Morning Dew flavored green tea and Rooibos Cream Orange.

To create an even more ahem, memorable experience, The Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa recommends adding a glass of Taittinger Champagne, or requesting a Flight of Taittinger Champagne, Sipsmith Gin, Grey Goose Vodka Martini or Plantation Rum.

The choice of the three Afternoon Teas is offered between the hours of 1:30 and 6 p.m. (last seating at 4:30 p.m.), along with a dedicated Children’s Afternoon Tea with its own menu. Reservations are, needless to say, encouraged.

The five-star Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa offers more than 250 years of history, combined with modern luxury, and is at the heart of the iconic Royal Crescent landmark building, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It’s among the greatest examples of Georgian architecture to be found in the United Kingdom. Designed by John Wood the Younger, it is a Grade 1 listed building.
