A “Mary Poppins” Afternoon Tea
Belmond British Pullman will host an afternoon tea journey inspired by “Mary Poppins Returns” on board its vintage 1920s and ’30s carriages February 16, 2019.
Passengers — parents and children alike — will be treated to Mr. Dawe’s selection of sandwiches, Ellen’s warm goat’s cheese tartlets, and a ‘practically perfect’ selection of cakes and pastries. Meanwhile, balloon artists, face painters, and magicians along with “Mary Poppins Returns” activity packs are set to entertain as the train rolls through the British countryside.
At London’s Victoria Station at 3:30 p.m., guests will be greeted by a live musical performance featuring tunes from the new film before boarding Belmond British Pullman’s steam-hauled journey for tea.
This quintessential English experience is a magical day out for both youngsters new to the enchantment of Mary Poppins and parents who remember the beguiling nanny from childhood. Prices start from approximately $360 (£285) per person for adults and $180 (£142.50) for children under 12 years. The journey ends back at Victoria Station at 5:15 p.m.
Belmond owns and operates 46 hotel, rail and river cruise experiences around the world.
