Georgia Apple Festival, Ellijay, GeorgiaThe Georgia Apple Festival is so big that it stretches over two weekends. This year, it takes place October 13 and 14, plus October 20 and 21, 2018, at the Ellijay Lions Club Fairgrounds, 1729 South Main Street, Ellijay, Georgia. Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday’s are 9 a.. to 5 p.m.

Look for more than 300 vendors with handmade, hand-crafted items (commercial products or services cannot exhibit). There will be many on-site demonstrations of how selected types of crafts are made.

In addition to the main fest at the fairgrounds, there are events scheduled throughout Ellijay, including a classic auto show October 13, and a parade October 20 (schedule is online).

Because parking is limited at the fairgrounds, Road Trips Foodies should park at Gilmer High and Middle Schools, Ellijay Elementary and Primary Schools, or Mountainview Elementary School. Shuttles will operate from those sites 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Saturdays, and 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Sundays.

In case you’re not in north Georgia on the festival dates, note that there are a dozen or so apple orchards selling their wares around Ellijay, Georgia.

The Ellijay Lions Club, the Gilmer County Chamber of Commerce, the cities of Ellijay and East Ellijay, and Gilmer County all cooperate to stage the event, now in its 47th year.
