Beaufort Shrimp Festival in South Carolina
Here’s another “check before you go” event scheduled for an area affected by Hurricane Florence and its aftermath.
The annual Shrimp Festival produced by the Beaufort (South Carolina) Chamber of Commerce is scheduled to take place October 5 and 6, 2018. Hours for the event, to be held in Henry C. Chambers Waterfront Park (parallel to Bay Street along the Beaufort River), are 6 to 10 p.m. October 5 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. October 6 — however, the arts and crafts booths open at noon October 5.
According to organizers, up to 15 local restaurants will be featuring their best shrimp dishes and competing for the Silver Cup award. How do you get to sample? Purchase tickets for $1 each, and redeem them at food and beverage booths. (Note: items usually cost from two to eight tickets apiece.)
There also are competitions for Shrimp Heading and Shrimp Peeling (the second one’s for children).
Admission into the festival is free. Tickets may be purchased for food, drinks, and children’s activities at ticket booths inside the park.
