National Buffalo Wing Festival . . . in Buffalo

Submitted by on August 27, 2018 – 8:38 amNo Comment

Buffalo Wing Festival, New YorkReminding all Road Trips Foodies that Buffalo wings aren’t the wings of buffaloes but the appendages of chickens as prepared by the hot-sauce-loving chefs in Buffalo, New York — along comes the 17th annual National Buffalo Wing Festival.

It’s set for Labor Day Weekend in Coca-Cola Field, 275 Washington Street, Buffalo, New York. Hours are noon to 9 p.m. September 1, 2018, and noon to 7 p.m. September 2, 2018.

Admission is $5 per day for adults (children under 8 are free). Tickets will be available at the gate.

All food tickets must be purchased at the festival as no pre-sale option is available. Food tickets are $1 each, and are used to purchase food items. The festival guide, which is available at the festival entrance, has a listing of all the food prices; for example, jumbo chicken wings are $1 each in food tickets.

Beverages are another category. All beer, soda, and bottled water must be purchased through stadium vendors on the field for cash, NOT food tickets.

Note that there’s both an amateur and a professional wing-eating contest, and something very scary called “bobbing for wings”.

In the unlikely event there are leftover wings, the National Buffalo Wing Festival works with Food Shuttle of Western New York to donate all unsold chicken wings to dozens of area senior centers, homeless shelters and other places in need of food donations.
