Apple Festival in Nappanee, Indiana
Well, of course, Road Trips Foodies: you want to go to northern Indiana next month. More than 800 visitors to the 43rd annual Apple Festival in downtown Nappanee, Indiana, get to sample a slice from the seven-foot-diameter apple pie.
The fest opens at 5 p.m. September 13, 2018, and closes at 6 p.m. September 16, 2018. The organizers don’t say when the great pie will be served, but if you miss it, there will be lots more “apple” to enjoy. More than 20 vendors will be offering apple pie, apple fritters, apple dumplings, apple turnovers, apple fry pies, apple bread, applesauce, apple cider, and apple butter to enjoy during the festival or to take home to enjoy later.
There are an apple baking, apple peeling, and pie-eating contests — and that’s all in addition to the usual fun of a family-friendly event: live music, carnival rides, garden tractor pull, and cornhole tournament.
Psst — here’s a picture of last year’s seven-foot-diameter apple pie.
