Maine Lobster Festival
Where better to sample lobster than Maine, Road Trips Foodies! And what better time than the annual Maine Lobster Festival, to be held August 1 through 5, 2018, along the shore in Rockland, Maine.
Sure there’ll be lots of live music, arts & crafts, and The Great International Lobster Cage Race, but foodies go there for two events: the seafood cooking contest and the food on offer. (That’s a classic Maine lobster roll in the photo.)
Last year the Lobster Festival cooked and served 19,000 pounds of lobster in a gigantic cooker on the shore. There’s also steamed and fried clams, fried Maine shrimp, shrimp cocktail, steamed mussels in wine and vegetable sauce, and many varieties of traditional summer fair food, all prepared in the traditional Maine way.
