Japan Week in New York City
Get a taste of Japan without leaving North America at Japan Week, set for Wednesday (March 14, 2018) through Saturday (March 17, 2018) in Vanderbilt Hall of Grand Central Station, New York City.
Yes, there will be Japanese food, but some of the “tastes” are visual, including this year’s theme: “3D Trick Art”. A popular phenomenon in Japan, trick art is a large-scale interactive work of art that seemingly adds a third dimension, creating the illusion that the depicted objects really exist. Visitors to Japan Week will be encouraged to “step into” each work of 3D Trick Art and take the ultimate selfie.
Organized by the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), Japan Week is a promotional tourism event in New York City that celebrates Japan as a travel destination. Free and open to the public, visitors are invited to discover locales all across Japan and to experience the art, crafts, food, and technology of Japanese culture.
Japan week is a cooperative effort between JNTO, diverse businesses in both New York City and Japan, and local Japanese governments.
