North Carolina Seafood Festival
It’s the 31st year for the North Carolina Seafood Festival, set for Friday through Sunday (October 6 through 8, 2017), in Morehead City, Carteret County, North Carolina.
Hours are noon to 11 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
According to the organizers, one of the goals of the North Carolina Seafood Festival is to promote the commercial fishing industry throughout the state of North Carolina as well as buying American caught seafood. Seafood caught in coastal waters are used for the dishes prepared at the festival. In the Cooking with the Chefs’ Tent, seafood procured from North Carolina Seafood Retailers and North Carolina produce secured from area farmers are used.
The North Carolina Seafood Festival is a not-for-profit organization of Carteret county citizens and business people, in conjunction with the town of Morehead City, N.C. Festival proceeds are shared with community organizations that donate their efforts to the event. Since 1987, more than $1.8 million has been dispersed among participating Carteret County non-profit groups.
